This privacy policy is issued by GRAY MATTER METRICS, LLC (“we”) and applies to the GRAY MATTER METRICS, LLC Web Site, www.GrayMatterMetrics.com and the CogSpeed App (the “App”), www.CogSpeed.com that can be purchased from this Site. This policy does not apply to information collected through any other Website. These Sites contains links to other websites that we do not control. For example, if you click on a link on our blog on the Site and link to another website, then this privacy policy will not apply to any information collected on that website. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites.
What information this Site and the CogSpeed App collects
Information you provide directly to us:
You are not required to provide information directly to us in order to view these Sites. However, when you use certain Site functions, such as when you directly contact the Site through e-mail, we may ask you to provide information, including contact information, such as name, email address, address, or phone number.
In addition, when you purchase or use the CogSpeed App, you will be required to provide a user ID and password, your date of birth, zip code, gender, and e-mail address. To assist in protecting your privacy, do not share your password with anyone. In order to provide proper functions and features, the App may also collect and securely store your geolocation, estimated time asleep, time awake, sleep duration and quality, subjective feelings of energy level, cognitive processing test data and time those tests were taken, in addition to other data we deem reasonably necessary to implement the App.
Information automatically collected when you visit and interact with the Site and CogSpeed App:
When you visit and interact with the Site or App, certain information may be collected automatically, including:
– your computer’s Internet Protocol (IP) address;
– your browser type and operating system;
– the web pages you were visiting immediately before and after you came to the Site;
– your bandwidth speed and information about the software programs that are installed on your computer;
– aggregated data about email click-through rates;
– standard server log information; and

Information we collect from other sources:
We may access information about you from third-party sources and platforms (such as social networking sites and databases), including:
– if you access third-party social networking services (such as Facebook or Twitter) through the Site, your username and connection lists for those services;

How we use the information that we collect
Email Communications:
We may use the information that we collect to send you e-mail communications, such as editorial updates, information about your account or changes to the Site, and promotional messages about our products and services. If you signed up for one of our email newsletters, we also will send you the newsletter that you requested.
If you participate in the remote monitoring program of CogSpeed, data collected from your password-protected CogSpeed App may be transmitted to a specified third party, via e-mail. Your participation in this program provides your consent to allow your data to be transmitted via e-mail only to the specified third party.
Statistical Analysis:
In order to learn more about how our Site is used, we aggregate and analyze the data that we collect. We may use this information, for example, to monitor and analyze use of the Site, to increase our Site’s functionality, and to better tailor our content and design to suit our visitors’ needs.
Data collected from the CogSpeed App may be used in aggregate for scientific research purposes, but these analyses will not contain information to allow identification of individual users. We will not distribute or sell personal information which would allow identification of individual users, such as names, or e-mail address to third-party organizations.
Remote Monitoring Program :
Data collected from your password-protected CogSpeed App is stored securely in our database and can be made available to you for your review and analysis at a later date through your CogSpeed App, as long as you maintain an active account. Your data is not shared with anyone without your consent or as otherwise noted in the Enforcement section below. In addition, if you participate in the remote monitoring program, your data may be securely transmitted to a specified third party. Your participation in this program provides your consent to allow your data to be transmitted to the specified third party.
Enforcement:
We may use the information that we collect to prevent illegal activities, to enforce the Site’s Terms of Service, and to otherwise protect our rights and the rights of our users.
In addition to the uses identified above, we may use the information that we collect for any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect your information or pursuant to your consent.
Information sharing
Gray Matter Metrics, LLC values your privacy and shares information about our users only under certain circumstances. We will not share specific, personal information about you without your consent. We will make information about you available to other companies, applications, or people in the circumstances listed below:
– We may share aggregated information or information that does not directly identify you with third parties to help us develop content, services, and advertising that we hope you will find of interest.
– We may employ third parties to perform Site-related services, including database management, maintenance services, analytics, marketing, data processing, and email and text message distribution. These third parties have access to your information only to perform these tasks on our behalf.
– If you choose to engage in public activities on the site, such as posting comments on community message boards, any information you submit can be read, collected, or used by others. Please exercise caution when deciding to disclose any personal information in public activities or submissions.

Deactivating your CogSpeed account
You can deactivate your CogSpeed account at any time by requesting cancellation of your account. When you deactivate your account, your user profile will be disabled, but your public comments will remain on the site. The Site has no responsibility to take down, remove, or edit any of your activities, submissions or data obtained as a result of your use of the App, or that are a result of your public activities. Any CogSpeed App data you generate will remain securely stored on our servers as long as your account is active, and may remain for up to six months after your account is deactivated in the event you decide to reactivate your account. Data in your deactivated account will be treated in accordance with this privacy policy until it is permanently deleted.
Cookies and other technologies
You can change your browser settings to reject all cookies, accept only certain cookies, or notify you when a cookie is set. Please note that you may need to renew these settings if you delete your cookies after these preferences are made. These settings also may not apply if you are using a different computer or Internet browser. Certain features of the CogSpeed App may not function correctly if you disable cookies. Sensitive personal information is not stored within cookies.
Confidentiality and security
Gray Matter Metrics, LLC takes great care to safeguard the CogSpeed App data you generate. Your login password is protected to prevent unauthorized data from being entered to or removed from your files. You should guard your password and prevent others from using your password. Our servers use the latest SSL security level encryption and user authentication procedures.
If you are participating in the remote monitoring program of the CogSpeed App, individuals or companies that participate in that program are provided access your data, but only with your consent and understanding. By taking the CogSpeed test as part of the remote monitoring program, you explicitly agree and consent for your data to be shared only with anyone having authorized access to the data provided to the remote monitor orogram. Otherwise, Gray Matter Metrics, LLC will not share your data with anyone without your written consent. However, you are free to share your data with anyone you like, unless you have made a prior agreement not to. To prevent unauthorized access to your data, you must take responsibility and reasonable precautions to safeguard your user id, password, and associated computer equipment.
We limit access to contact information about you to employees or service providers who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs. We also have adopted commercially reasonable technical, physical, and administrative procedures to help protect personal information about you and your data from loss, misuse, and alteration.
Please note that no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to or receive from us.

Visitors from outside the United States
The Site’s offices are located in the United States. If you visit the site from another country, please be aware that information you provide to us or that we obtain as a result of your use of the Site may be processed in and transferred to the United States and will be subject to U.S. law. U.S. privacy and data protection laws may not be equivalent to the laws in your country of residence. By using the Site or providing us with your information, you consent to the collection, transfer, storage, and processing of information to and in the United States.
Children under 13
Neither our Site nor the App is designed for use by children under 13 without consent by parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected any personal information from a child under the age of 13 without consent by parent or guardian, we will delete that information from our database as quickly as possible. The App will not allow anyone to set up a user ID if they enter a date of birth indicating they are younger than 13. Changes to the privacy policy
We may update this privacy policy at any time to reflect changes in our practices and service offerings.
